The idea of a working class is that you have people who are laboring but own nothing. And this comes out of the industrial revolution and the mass employment of people in things like factories. This is the this kind of idea of working class of working but not owning carries through the 19th century.
Monopoly reflects some of the enduring inequities in American society and the uglier parts of our history. From segregation and redlining to capitalism run rampant. Yet, it's also built on this powerful American lore. The idea that anyone with just a little bit of cash can rise from rags to riches in this country.
The lesson out of that which is sort of a textbook lesson which is that you don't want government picking winners and losers cuz a it's not very good at it and b even if it is good at it like to whom does that benefit a crew?
