I found myself doing the spiel. You know, this is a red-tailed hawk. It's like most common widespread bird of prey in North America. You know, I'm doing the kind of event spiel. But at that time, I was doing it to thousands of people at a time that I knew were all over the world on this live stream instead of in person with maybe 20 kids at a time.
I wanted to do this for the rest of my life, but I wanted to do it at a much, much larger scale. So then two years later, at 22 years old, I came up with a plan, and the vision was to build an animal sanctuary that nobody visits, or at least not in person.
And so I would bring wildlife to schools, to birthday parties, to events in person. And I would teach kids about them. So I was the zookeeper that showed up. And then when I started doing this rehab with Bean on stream, I found myself doing the spiel. This is a red-tailed hawk. It's like most common widespread bird of prey in North America. But at that time I was doing it to thousands of people at a time that I knew were all over the world on this live stream, instead of in person with maybe 20 kids at a time.
Singapore enacted policies to clean up their waterways, and they were really, really successful. So all of a sudden, instead of having waterways that were filled with filth, we had waterways that were filled with fish. And from the otters' points of view, they were feeding troughs.
And so I can be on one side of the river looking across the river, watching a family of otters do its thing through binoculars or a camera. And they're absolutely unfazed.
