One of the joys of baseball to me is the silence between half innings with walkup music and non-stop audio. The need to secure attention, the attention of the fans is relentless. And uh the idea of a kid going to a ball game and being entitled to dream that may be lost.

And so in that sense, too, it was very rare that we were sitting there getting into the nitty gritty of her crime, especially when I was young. You know, fundamentally, she was trying to play with me and have fun with me and let me feel close to her.

Why being Black and outdoorsy is a whole thing

I wanted to create a space where we could reconnect with our childlike wonder, which I think especially for black people and minorities can get stripped away over life and you don't even realize when it's happening, how it's happening. It it's getting stripped from you day by day through our experience.
