If you look at individuals with depression, many of them don't have decreased serotonin. They have normal levels. This idea that we had a measurable index of depression just because it was less serotonin, many people talked about, but it really wasn't true.
Women have long been more likely than men to struggle with or being diagnosed with depression and anxiety... women's suffering, it's quiet because it's women have had to suffer quietly for a very long time.
