I think of the baby woman as kind of like the evil twin of the girlboss. And I think baby womanhood is the complete opposite of of the girlboss in that it's saying, I do not want any of these responsibilities. Just take them away. Someone else do it.
There's been this kind of minimizing of comedies in terms of their significance and their cinematic value, but we were all raised on comedies that felt incredibly cinematic.
The word is doing a tremendous amount of work in American culture and society, and it's a problem that causes real harm to people. And one of the ways that we can actually address that problem with more than hand-wringing or more than shock is to actually understand how it works.
