Love Island gives us an opportunity to have some really healthy conversations about sex and dating and I really love that aspect of it. What I haven't appreciated this season and especially last season um because I think it all stems from that. It's starting to feel like there's this default to receive things or receive people in bad faith.
The problem with Sunday's broadcast wasn't the fighting. The problem was the tonally incoherent emulsion of patriotism and blood lust. History and by this crap an event happening for the people but tucked behind a paramount payw wall.
It's a place where the financial incentives of the influencer economy crash right into the rigors of traditional journalism — and as regular Decoder listeners know, I have a lot of questions about how those two things work (or don't) in the modern media landscape.
