Detention not as a place where people wait for their cases to be decided, but as a tool to pressure them to abandon those cases and accept deportation.
It will never stop at 5%. It will go on and on. The governance will become a nightmare. Political capture will be real and it will generate precisely no goodwill with the public.
Private enterprises should be able to flourish in the United States. Everyone agrees with that. and the government should be able to enact reasonable regulations to protect America's interests and both of those need to find a way to play together but there is just a really really broad gap between these two organizations
The lesson out of that which is sort of a textbook lesson which is that you don't want government picking winners and losers cuz a it's not very good at it and b even if it is good at it like to whom does that benefit a crew?
